Sony State of Play: Ghost of Yotei and Everything Announced for PS5 and PSVR 2
At Sony State of Play on Tuesday, a trailer for the highly anticipated Ghost of Tsushima 2 was unveiled. Ghost of Yotei, a new PS5 game, is scheduled for release in 2025.
In the teaser, Atsu—another assumed ronin—is shown slicing through the countryside while wearing her own Ghost mask as the new hero. The game is set in the areas around Mount Yotei in the desolate Ezo area of northern Japan (near present-day Hokkaido) around 1603 — 300 years after Ghost of Tsushima.
According to PS5 website
This is Sucker Punch’s first entirely original game for the PlayStation 5, and we’re thrilled to expand upon the realistic visuals we set in Ghost of Tsushima by creating an even more immersive universe. We’ll be sharing more updates soon. We have expansive sightlines that allow you to see a great distance across the landscape, brand-new skies with sparkling stars and auroras, even more realistic wind movement on grass and vegetation, and much more. We may also include new gameplay elements, new weaponry, and new dynamics thanks to our new setting.\
We’ve just given you a small taste of this world with our trailer today; in the months to come, we’ll have much more to share, including information about Atsu’s travels and the people (and animals) she encounters. We will always be appreciative of Ghost of Tsushima’s popularity, and we can’t wait for you all to see Ghost of Yōtei in 2025.
